The Cross of Saints Patrick and Columba, Kells

This decorated High Cross is found next to the round tower at the early monastic site of Kells, Co. Meath (SMR No. ME017-044014-). Probably dating to the 9th century, it is covered in biblical iconography. A well-worn inscription on its base reads 'PATRICII ET COLUMBAE CR' (the cross of Patrick and Columba).
