- Exhibition: Royal Book Collections
This exhibition, based on The European Library’s Manuscripts and Princes in Medieval and Renaissance Europe exhibition, gives the public a new perspective on three manuscript collections compiled by the Europeana Regia project.
Several European libraries have worked together to virtually reconstruct the exceptional royal libraries of the Carolingian Emperors (8th and 9th centuries), the Library of Charles V and Family (14th century), and the Library of the Aragonese Kings of Naples (15th and 16th centuries).
This exhibition showcases a selection of the most sumptuous of manuscripts, chosen because of the importance of their texts, the craftsmanship of the illuminations, or luxurious bindings.
