Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, Garfagnana
The Garfagnana is a geographical region of central Italy, in the upper valley of the river Serchio, and thus lies between the main ridge of the Northern Apennines and the Alpi Apuane. Here, San Pellegrino in Alpe is the highest permanently inhabited area in the whole Apennine chain. Due to its position it constituted, since the Middle Ages, a passage for pilgrims and merchants. Today, mountain views, history, nature & excellent food attact tourists.
