Figure Sculpture (Sedes Sapentia)
This figure of the Virgin Mary is made from limewood. It is believed to be Spanish and possibly 16th century. The figure of the child which should be on the Virgin's knee, was lost at point in the past. These types of figures are called 'Sedes Sapentiae' meaning 'Throne of Wisdom'.
