Albert Hamart was born in Reims. He married the daughter of a naval doctor from Rochefort, founder of a clinic in Reims. They were the parents of a girl born in 1911 in the Champagne city. The war put an end to a comfortable and happy life: the bombardments destroyed the clinic, the whole family took refuge in Charente.
