Roman inscription from Cambridge
The drawing shows one of two inscribed stones found quite close to each other on the road to Girton, by the Rev H Biden in 1812. This one was thought to be erected by the fifth legion in honour of Constantius, eldest son of Constantine the Great. The form of both stones is columnar, and some Roman pottery was found nearby. Both stones were given to the University of Cambridge.
