Pictish carved stones from Scotland
The item is a proof of a plate from John Stuart's book, 'Sculptured Stones of Scotland' (see Bibliography).The lithograph shows both sides of a stone carved with Pictish designs and symbols, including a Celtic cross surrounded by four figures (perhaps the four Evangelists)on one side, and a hunting scene on the other side.
