Left hand of the Colossus
One fragment of the left hand of the acrolyth statue of Augustus.It is the back of the extended left hand; The fragment is carved in Parian marble of the finest quality, like the Augustus of Prima Porta and that of via Labicana. As in the biggest acroliths, the fragment is not solid, but hollow, so they must have attached to the structure supporting the statue, made of wood or iron.
