Global Ideas: Mexico's fight against smog
As late as the 1990s, Mexico City was considered one of the dirtiest places in the world. Despite car-free Sundays and the relocation of inner-city industry, smog has not disappeared. The constantly growing traffic and geographical location is to blame: Limited by mountains and volcanoes, the megacity lies in a boiler that hardly lets smog escape.
