At the E.J. Brill printing house in Leiden, books were printed in oriental languages. The letters are set mechanically with a mono-typewriter, which punches the letters into a roll of paper. This punching belt controls the letter frame of the casting machine, which casts the letters and arranges them in lines. Then the texts are printed.
