Due to Rising Food Prices the Volume of Food Consumption Decreased Significantly in January 1989
SERIES TITLE: Retrospective newsreels
By the decision of the Council of Ministers - as of January 9 - the price of food products is raised on the average by 16-17%. Interview with the manager of the Skála Metro hypermarket in Budapest. On an average day, as he told, 15,000 costumers did shopping, on the day of price rises those who came just took a stroll through the shop as if they were in a museum.
