Broom horse
A broom horse, used by Albert West, a broom maker from Tadley, Hampshire, who was still taking occasional orders for besoms in 1983 at the age of 73. It consists of a three-legged stool with a seat at one end and a foot-operated swivelling clamp at the other. It was used for preparing the handles of besom brooms - the handle would be held tight in the clamp while the broom maker shaves off the bar…
