Potato digger
This two-pronged steel implement with a round socket into which a shaft would be fitted is the head of a potato digger. It was made by Finch Brothers of Sticklepath, Devon, circa 1945–6, and is part of a large collection of traditional craft products acquired from the British Council in 1960. Potato diggers were used to grub up potatoes before it became more common to plough them up.
