Herrenbildnis
This three-quarter-length portrait depicts a gentleman in an elegant frock coat against a monochrome background. He is wearing a beige waistcoat and underneath, a white pleated shirt with a gold jabot pin set with an oval gemstone. His “Vatermörder” collar (a high starched collar similar to a Gladstone collar) was fashionable during the Biedermeier and pre-revolutionary Vormärz periods.
