Writing desk with a raised back
From 1774 to 1784 Riesener was the leading court cabinetmaker to King Louis XVI, Queen Marie Antoinette and their family. This elegant writing desk is a relatively plain example of his work. It is adorned with marquetry of roses, and was probably meant to be used by a woman.
