Evening Gown
Along with Paris, Brussels developed into an important fashion centre in the course of the 19th century. Fashion there followed the French lead. This gown is an example of the eclectic revival of various historical styles. The vertical slashes on the pointed bodice and the puffed sleeves derive from 16th-century fashion.
