Etymologicum magnum.
Upper cover. Early Italian work in the interlaced lozenge and rectangle style later popular in Western Europe generally. The initials in the corners are possibly those of Giovanni Brembata (fl. c. 1555). Two other similar bindings with the same monogram are known.
