Unealta are formă alungită, prevăzută la una din extremități cu un lemn în formă de T. Serrvește în timpul mersului cu lotca la menținerea direcției. Are rol de cârmă sau uneori, înlocuiește "ghionderul" când acesta lipsește sau când este apa mică, sau în stufăriș. Cromatică: culoarea patinată a lemnului.
