Stool, shearing
This sheep-shearing stool was supplied by, and probably made by, J. Mounsey of Ousby, Cumbria, circa 1945–6. It consists of four pine slats mortised into an oak trestle at each end. This type of stool was apparently for use in ‘hilly country’. The stool is part of a large collection of traditional craft products acquired from the British Council in 1960.
