Swimming in the baths at Kingstown (now Dun Laoghaire)
The picture was taken in 1920 by a pupil at Hillcourt, a Dublin boarding school for girls (now Rathdown School).
Hillcourt advertised itself as being 20 minutes' walk from the sea. The girls were regularly marched down the hill, in all weathers, to the baths on the seafront. Here, there were able to provide seawater and freshwater pools, as well as seaweed, and hot seawater, baths.
