Kimono for an unmarried woman
Textile artists from the early 20th century sometimes drew their inspiration from the past – as is the case here. They looked particularly to the period around 1700, when colourful compositions with overlapping flowers and fans were also popular. The kimono’s sumptuous appearance is strengthened by the silver and gold accents, embroidered with thread or applied with gold foil.
