Bildnis des Dichters Felix Philippi
Wilhelm Trübner and Felix Philippi knew each other from Munich, where Trübner had settled in 1875. When this portrait was painted, Phillipi was working as a journalist. He later worked as a theatre director and wrote plays. He is considered a great admirer of Henrik Ibsen. Is he wearing the horseshoe on his collar as a good luck charm?
