Nymphaeum of Egeria

The Nymphaeum of Egeria was probaly part of the waterworks of a nearby villa dating back to the II century AD, which belonged to Herodes Atticus. The name Egeria dates back to the Renaissance when scholars believed that this was the location of the spring and sacred wood where Numa Pompilius met with the goddess Nymph Egeria.
