The Laocoön Group
The Group of the Laocoon is a Roman marble copy of a Hellenistic sculpture of the Rhodian school kept in the Pio-Clementino Museum of the Vatican Museums, in the City of Vatican. It depicts the famous episode narrated in the Aeneid which shows the Trojan priest Laocoon and his sons attacked by sea serpents, during the Trojan War. The subject has been reinterpreted infinite times during the centuries.
