SERIES TITLE: Evening News
Old Christmas traditions and customs in Central Bohemia. There was Advent, when people were fasting, before Christmas Eve. Masked figures, which punished or rewarded, were walking about villages. Various plays related to destinies – cutting apples, pouring lead, candles in shells – are also connected with Christmas. Christmas holidays end on Epiphany, followed by Shrovetide.
