Packaging for liquorice made by Geo. Bassett & Co Ltd. Established in Sheffield in 1842 the family run business 'invented' the famous allsorts by accident in 1899. The company’s mascot Bertie Bassett, made from liquorice allsorts was created by John McEwan and launched in 1929. The company bought W. R.
