Etienne Lacoste was born on April 14, 1887 in Castelsarrasin. Incorporated on October 7, 1908, he completed his military service and then returned to the war for five years. An artilleryman, he was wounded on July 15, 1918 in Champagne, his artillery piece exploding from use. He has his biceps torn off and is the only survivor of his group.
