Neolithic Macehead
Found in Gruinart on the north of Islay and dating from the Neolthic period or the early Bronze Age, this macehead would originally have been mounted on a shaft. Creating the macehead would have been a very time-consuming process, boring the hole with a wooden drill bit with sand and water.
