Latrine, Ostia
Example of a private latrine in Ostia, Caseggiato delle Taberne finestrate (IV, V, 18). The seats are made from slabs of white marble (certainly of second-hand use), as are the walls, the small fountain on the left corner and the pavement. The latrine dates back to the 2nd century AD, being contemporary with the building. Masonry is in red brickwork.
