Anastasio receives a letter from his girlfriend Cunegonde, who is arriving the next day: if he has no money, she will never be his wife. Anastasio is desperate and decides to commit suicide. But the bad luck pursues him even in this particular moment: any attempt to hang or shooting himself, is always hindered by unforeseen events.
