Roman silver votive plaques from Barkway, Herts.
The silver votive plaques were found in 1789 in an urn in the Windmill field near Stony Stratford, Bucks. They were interpreted by Lysons as being fragments of "Roman military ensigns" Some of the plaques were dedicated to Mars whose image appears on them,one to Apollo, and the inscription is a dedication to Jupiter and Vulcan
