Hive, skep
Basketwork
A skep is a type of beehive, in use for over two thousand years. It is, in form, essentially a basket placed upside down. This skep and cap are made from a series of bonded straw loops. It is part of a large collection of traditional craft products acquired from the British Council, and was supplied by J. T. Burgess and Son, Exeter, circa 1950.
