Rittmeister Heinrich Bauer
Heinrich Bauer had fought with the Baden troops on the side of France against Austria in the so-called War of the Fifth Coalition. He fell on 21 May 1809 in the Battle of Aspern. The pastel was created as a companion piece to the portrait of his wife Christine and shows the cavalry captain in his uniform and medals.
