Calder Abbey
View of Calder Abbey in Cumbria, Northern
England. Calder Abbey is situated near Whitehaven on the west coast
of England. It was founded in 1134 by Ranulph de Meschines for a
community of monks who were part of the order of Savigny, and who
later merged with the Cistercians. The Abbey was burnt down in 1128
and it took many years to rebuild, with works not being entirely
