Sir James Earle(1755 - 1813), portrait
Surgeon at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, London, particularly known for the operation for bladder-stone. Pupil of Percival Pott, whose daughter he married and whose literary works he later published. In the background, a library of large volumes, of which three are lettered "Hydrocele", "Curv'd spine", and "Potts works".
